Biography

Kyron Cartwright enters his second season with the program. Cartwright was an inaugural member of Coach Ivan Thomas's staff. This offseason, he was promoted and given the role of Offensive Coordinator. Hampton saw a massive improvement in its offensive efficiency. According to kenpom.com the Pirates had a rating of 103.8 and ranked 226th in the country, which was a 118-spot increase from the 2023-24 season. Hampton also had a major increase in its offensive rebounding percentage. The program at 34 percent was ranked 56th in the country. Cartwright had spent his one season at Georgetown as the Video and Social Media Coordinator. Cartwright reunited with his college coach in December of 2022 when he was hired as a special assistant. The Friars made their second consecutive NCAA Tournament as an 11 seed but fell to Kentucky 61-53. The Program was ranked in the AP and Coaches Poll for eight straight weeks. The 2023 NCAA Tournament was Providence's seventh appearance in ten years. The Compton, Calif. native, began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant at Minnesota Crookston out of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. After retiring from his professional playing career, he began his coaching journey at Saint Thomas Academy as an assistant coach. After his college playing career, Cartwright spent four years playing overseas. His first professional team was with Alba Fehervar.
