Ivan Thomas is the Head Coach of Hampton University men's basketball, a position he has held since 2024. In his inaugural season, the Pirates achieved multiple milestones including their first undefeated month since 2002-03 and posted a 17-16 record, the second most wins by a first-year head coach in program history. Hampton finished with eight conference wins, surpassing CAA win totals from their first two seasons in the league, and had their deepest CAA Tournament run. The bench averaged 35.5 points per game, fourth most in the country. Before Hampton, Thomas served as Associate Head Coach at Georgetown under Ed Cooley in 2023-24. He spent eight seasons as Assistant Coach at Providence (2016-23), contributing to six postseason appearances including five NCAA Tournament berths. Thomas has extensive high school coaching experience, serving as head coach at Kecoughtan High (2008-15) with a 127-60 record and two Peninsula District championships, T.C. Williams High (2005-08) with a 75-9 record and three league titles, and Edison High (2002-05). He was named Virginia Coach of the Year in 2008 after leading T.C. Williams to a state title. Thomas also spent 13 years coaching the Boo Williams 17U AAU team and holds master's degrees from VCU and George Mason, plus a bachelor's from VCU. A Norfolk, Virginia native, he is married to Dr. Jennifer Miles-Thomas and has three children.

Calvin Cage enters his second season on the Pirates coaching staff and is an inaugural member of Coach Ivan Thomas's staff. This offseason, Cage received a promotion, adding the Recruiting Coordinator role. Cage comes from Buffalo where he spent one season as an assistant coach under George Halcovage III. The former UB guard was the head of player development for the Bulls. Prior to joining Buffalo's staff, Cage spent four seasons at Canisius. With the Golden Griffins, he coached three All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Third Team selections Jordan Henders, Malek Green, and Malik Johnson. During his tenure with the program, Canisius won a total of 29 conference contests. In the high school ranks Cage had a two-year stint as an assistant coach for the Team Takeover 17-U program, part of the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL). With Team Takeover he helped develop and lead skill-based practices, recruited new talent, planned travel, and scheduled logistics for the team. Cage is also the founder and director of Cage Clinics in Washington, D.C. He would get his coaching start at Rock Creek Christian Academy in Upper Marlboro, Md. as the head coach of the junior varsity program. A 2006 graduate of UB, Cage played 121 career games for the Bulls from 2002-06. He capped his collegiate career by earning All-MAC Second Team honors after he led the Bulls in scoring average with 18.5 points per contest in his senior campaign. Fahey began his coaching career as head junior varsity and assistant varsity coach at New Jersey powerhouse St. Benedict's Prep, helping guide the Gray Bees to an 89-15 record with a peak ranking of No. 8 nationally. He also spent four seasons on the Nike EYBL circuit with the City Rocks. A native of Randolph, New Jersey, Fahey graduated from Marist College in 2013 with a degree in sports communications and a minor in psychology. He completed a master's degree from Providence College in higher education and earned a certificate in sports administration in 2022.

The 2023 NCAA Tournament was Providence's seventh appearance in ten years. The Compton, Calif. native, began his collegiate coaching career as an assistant at Minnesota Crookston out of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. After retiring from his professional playing career, he began his coaching journey at Saint Thomas Academy as an assistant coach.
