In 11 seasons as head coach, Richman has led the Bison to three NCAA Tournament berths and seven Summit League Tournament championship games. He is the second-fastest coach in NDSU history to reach 100 wins -- and the fastest in the school's Division I era. Richman's record stands at 211-142 through 11 seasons. The Bison went on a run of five consecutive appearances in the championship game of the Summit League Tournament from 2019-23. NDSU owns a record of 18-8 in the Summit League Tournament in Richman's tenure. NDSU went 25-8 under Richman's guidance in the 2019-20 season, cruising to a sweep of the Summit League regular season and tournament titles. In 2018-19, Richman coached the Bison to a Summit League Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament First Four victory over North Carolina Central -- the second Division I tournament win in school history. In his first season as head coach, Richman guided the Bison to the 2015 Summit League regular season and tournament championships and their third NCAA Tournament bid in seven years. He led NDSU to 23 victories – the most by any first-year Division I head coach that season – earning him Summit League Coach of the Year honors. North Dakota State head men’s basketball coach David Richman announced the hiring of Luke Strege as an assistant coach for the Bison in June 2023. Strege came to NDSU from Mineral Area College in Park Hills, Mo., where he served as head coach for eight seasons and posted a record of 199-46. “We set out to challenge ourselves and continue to push our Bison basketball family to new heights with this hire,” Richman said upon Strege's hiring. “We have accomplished just that with the addition of Luke, Christine, and their boys joining our family.” “The combination of Luke’s high level of successful experience as a Division I assistant and as a head junior college coach make him a great fit,” continued Richman. “Luke has achieved his successes with the utmost character and integrity, which aligns with our core values. We’re thrilled to welcome Luke and his family into our Bison family, and continue to push for the betterment of those around us – and ultimately championship levels of success on and off the court.” Strege led Mineral Area College to an undefeated regular season and Elite Eight appearance at the NJCAA National Tournament in 2020-21, one year after posting a record of 30-2. In his eight seasons at the helm, the Cardinals never won fewer than 22 games in a season, and never lost more than nine. “We as a family are thrilled to be joining the Bison basketball family. We are here because this is the perfect fit for us,” said Strege. “This is a tremendous basketball program
