Assistant Coach
Ashley Schilling is in her second season as an assistant coach at North Dakota State in 2026, after she was announced to the coaching staff on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. Schilling joined the Bison from Northern State, where she served as the head coach for the Wolves for three seasons. Schilling led Northern State to 25 wins in her final season with the Wolves in 2024, the most for the program since 2018. In her time in Aberdeen, Schilling developed the program’s presence at the plate, as the Wolves set single season records for home runs in 2022, as well as hits and doubles in 2024. She also helped guide a Wolves pitcher to the individual single season strikeout record and career strikeout record. The Wolves had four all-conference student-athletes and one Academic All-District selection under Schilling. Prior to her move to Northern State, Schilling spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Missouri Western, helping to guide the Griffons to a 78-46 overall record with trips to the MIAA Tournament both years it was contested (cancelled by covid in 2020) and the 2019 NCAA Central Region Tournament. Schilling was the Griffon’s recruiting coordinator during her time in Saint Joseph and also served a stint as the interim head coach. In addition to her duties with the softball program, Schilling served on the Advantage Committee, Constitution and Bylaws Committee, and Professional Development Committee at Missouri Western. Associate Head Coach
Gerice Olson enters her 10th season with the NDSU Softball coaching staff in 2026 and her seventh season as the associate head coach, after being elevated to the position in July 2019. She spent the previous three seasons an assistant. Olson has been a player (1997-2000), student assistant (2001) and assistant coach (2016-24) for the Bison. During her time with the Bison, Olson has helped coach NDSU to two Summit League Regular Season Championships and three Summit League Conference Tournament Championships. The Bison have made three appearances in the NCAA Regional Tournament. Prior to returning to her alma mater, Olson spent the previous four years at Buffalo (Minn.) High School. She was an assistant coach for the Buffalo softball team that finished runner-up in the state tournament in the spring of 2016. The Bison qualified for the state tournament for the first time in program history in 2015. Prior to heading back to her hometown of Buffalo, Minn., Olson spent two seasons at UCF in Orlando, Fla., where the Knights compiled 61-51 record including a 26-22 ledger in Conference USA. The 2011 UCF team went 39-19 and advanced to the NCAA regional. Olson spent five years (2006-10) as the head coach at NCAA Division II University of Mary, where she posted an overall record of 133-132 and led the Marauders to two Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference postseason tournaments.
