Gary Calcagno

Biography

Gary Calcagno has served as a strength and conditioning coach at Oklahoma State since 2000. His career in the field spans more than 35 years. His work has focused solely on OSU football since 2024, but he also has decades of experience with the OSU wrestling program, serving as the team's lead strength and conditioning coach from 2000-24. Calcagno's career highlights include 22 Oklahoma State bowl games with 18 straight from 2006-23, six New Year's Six bowl games, a 2011 Big 12 football title and four consecutive NCAA team wrestling championships from 2003-06. He was also part of two bowl teams at Washington State and one at Tulsa. Prior to his arrival in Stillwater, he served as an intern with Dallas Cowboys in 2000. That came after a six-year stay at Washington State, where he served in his first full-time coaching role in strength and conditioning from 1994-99. He arrived in Pullman after working as a student assistant and graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Tulsa. Originally from the Miami/Welch area of Oklahoma, Calcagno attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College from 1987-89 and majored in physical education. He graduated with his associate’s degree in 1989. After NEO, Calcagno continued his education at Tulsa, where he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in physical education. He has obtained several certifications in the strength and conditioning profession. In 2008, Calcagno was named a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach
