Biography

George Matsakis joined the Oklahoma State football program in December of 2025. Prior to that, he was the North Texas coordinator of football operations from 2018-25. A veteran of collegiate athletics, Matsakis spent the 2016-17 seasons as an assistant athletic director at Kansas under Dr. Sheahon Zenger, and was Zenger's assistant to the athletics director from 2014-15. Matsakis was the director of football operations with Kansas under head coach Charlie Weis from 2012-13, under Turner Gill from 2010-2011 and Mark Mangino from 2002-09. He held the same title at Houston under head coach Dana Dimel from 2000-01. Prior to his role at Houston, Matsakis was an administrative assistant and video coordinator under Dimel at Wyoming from 1997-99 and was also a video coordinator at Kansas State under head coach Bill Snyder. During his playing career, Matsakis was a punter at Kansas State. He and his wife Heidi have a daughter, Lexie.
