The 2026 season is Jake Coon's 17th season as the RIT men's lacrosse head coach. During his decade-and-a-half, Coon has led the Tigers to two National Championships, 15 Conference Championships, and 10 Final Four appearances. The winningest coach in program history, Coon led RIT to 21-2 record in 2025, advancing to the NCAA Semifinal for the 11th time. A four-time All-American goalie at Nazareth College, the Homer, NY native is Nazareth's only four-time All-American. He led Nazareth to a 51-10 record, helping the Golden Flyers to the NCAA Division III title in 1997. Coon earned First Team All-American and USILA Goalie of the Year honors in 1998 and 2000. He was inducted into the Nazareth Sports Hall of Fame in 2009. Coon played professionally for the Rochester Knighthawks (National Lacrosse League) from 2000-2003, and the Rochester Rattlers (2001-2005) and Boston Cannons (2005-2009) of the Major Lacrosse League. After graduating from Nazareth in 2002, Coon spent five years at Nazareth from 2001-2005 working directly with the goalies and defense, helping guide the Golden Flyers to four NCAA Tournament appearances, including the 2004 national championship game. Following Nazareth, Coon spent four years at UMass as the defensive coordinator and worked closely with the goalies, helping guide the Minutemen to the 2006 national championship game.

Colin Cornaire

Assistant Coach

Cornaire joins the RIT staff after spending the past season at Nazareth University. While at Nazareth he assisted with the offense which boasted the Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Year and USILA All-American (HM), Quinn McKercher, along with 5 Empire 8 All-Conference Players, including two first team performers. Cornaire also served as the Head Coach at SUNY Brockport from 2023 to 2024 where he coached and mentored the SUNYAC Offensive Player of the Year (Nick Askin '24), six SUNYAC All-Conference Players, and one USILA All-American (Honorable Mention). Prior to SUNY Brockport, he spent four seasons on the men's lacrosse staff at SUNY Geneseo where he was the first assistant and offensive coordinator. Cornaire also spent time as the interim head coach for the Knights. He helped the program post a 15-4 conference record during his time and made three SUNYAC Championship game appearances. As the offensive coordinator he helped coach eight USILA All-Americans, 21 SUNYAC All-Conference Players and helped raise the program into the receiving votes category of the USILA National Coaches Top 20 Poll on two separate occasions. Prior to his time at Geneseo he spent three seasons as the offensive coordinator at his alma mater, Division II Roberts Wesleyan College where he coached National Lacrosse League First Round Draft pick Hunter Lemieux. Shawn Wilkins, the 2021 IMLCA Division III Assistant Coach of the Year, begins his 17th season as an assistant coach for the RIT men's lacrosse program in 2025-26, serving as RIT's offensive coordinator. Wilkins helped lead the Tigers to a 21-2 record and an appearance in the NCAA Semifinal in 2025. Wilkins represented Team Canada as an assistant coach helping lead the team to the Gold Medal at the 2025 U-20 World Championships. Under Wilkins' tutelage, the Tigers offense has become one of the most prolific scoring teams in all of Division III. Last season, the Tigers tallied 357 goals, finishing fourth in assists and in the top-25 nationally averaging 15.52 goals per game. In his 16 seasons, Wilkins has led a potent attack that scored 5,272 goals, averaging 16.37 goals per game over that span. Wilkins is highly involved with recruiting and the day-to-day operations of one of the most successful programs in the nation, and is an integral part of a program that has made 12 straight trips to the NCAA Tournament, and 12 conference championships, including berths in the 2013, 2017, 2021 and 2022 championship games. Wilkins was honored in 2013 as the Assistant Coach of the Year by the USILA, and has helped RIT to an impressive 228-24 record. Wilkins has mentored eight conference offensive players of the year, including Dawson Tait in 2021. Ryan Barnable (2022), Shawn Nally (2018) and Allister Warren (2015) each won the Fran McCall Award as the Division III Midfielder of the Year.
