In the 2020-21 season, Papendick was named the MAC Coach of the Year after leading Stevens to the Middle Atlantic Conference Championship and an NCAA Championship appearance for the first time in program history. Additionally, Papendick led the Ducks to back-to-back third place finishes in the Empire 8 Championships in his first two seasons. A successful pitcher at Division I Fairleigh Dickinson University, Papendick achieved his Bachelor's degree in communications and advertising from Fairleigh Dickinson in 1985 and coached baseball at his alma mater Don Bosco Prep for three seasons.
