Mindy Halverson

Biography

Skyhawk alum Mindy Halverson brings 25 plus years of cheer experience as a coach and choreographer to the University of Tennessee at Martin coaching staff. Halverson was brought on by head coach and longtime friend Amber Minton in December 2020 to be the Skyhawks’ assistant cheer coach. Halverson later took on the role as assistant STUNT coach as UT Martin became the first university in Tennessee to add STUNT in June 2021. After taking time to build their roster and study the sport of STUNT, UT Martin posted a 6-2 record in its first season of exhibition games in 2023. NCAA legislation approved STUNT as a Division I level emerging sport in January 2024. That year, UT Martin finished third nationally in the NCAA Division I ranks. The Skyhawks finished the 2025 season in fourth place after another Nationals appearance. The STUNT program continues to grow under Minton and Halverson’s guidance as they have more than doubled their roster since 2021. Halverson plays a pivotal role in recruiting student-athletes of all ability levels based on their strengths of stunting and/or tumbling. Halverson, who first met Minton when they were both students at UT Martin, is a 2007 graduate with a bachelor’s degree in education, focused on grades K-8. Along with her coaching career, she teaches at Martin Elementary School. Originally from South Fulton, Tenn., she resides in Martin with her husband Steve and two daughters.
