Herman Shelton

Biography

Herman Shelton, appointed Associate Director of Athletic Communication at the University of Colorado in July 2023, brings over 13 years of experience in sports media and communications. He is the primary media contact for CU's Cross Country and Track & Field programs and a secondary contact for Football, overseeing communications, social content, and highlighting the achievements of student-athletes. Herman's career began in 2010 at Texas Southern University, and he has since held key roles at Howard, Southern, and Alcorn State Universities. At Alcorn State, he partnered with ESPN to produce events like the SWAC Football Championship and contributed to high-profile tournaments. At Howard, he boosted visibility for the golf program and basketball star Makur Maker, even serving as the voice of the Howard Bison in 2021-22. He also contributed his services at the Allstate Sugar Bowl for three seasons and the 2017 Texas Bowl, which was relocated to New Orleans due to Hurricane Harvey. Born in Panama and raised in New Orleans, Herman holds degrees from Texas Southern and West Virginia University. He resides near Denver with his son, Keon. His professional affiliations include Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., College Sports Communicators (CSC), and the National Football Foundation.
