Johnnie Mack

Biography

Johnnie Mack was named running backs coach at Colorado in February 2026 after serving as an offensive analyst working with the running backs during the 2025 season. He was elevated to the on-field role after Marshall Faulk accepted the head coaching position at Southern. Prior to Colorado, Mack returned to his hometown of Lakeland, Fla., and joined the coaching staff at Southeastern University ahead of the 2020 season. He arrived at SEU with experience across multiple offensive roles, special teams, and strength and conditioning, along with recruiting ties in Florida, Texas, California and Oklahoma. Before SEU, Mack worked at Hawai‘i in an offensive quality control role and coached wide receivers, helping mentor a pair of All-Mountain West selections in Cedric Byrd and JoJo Ward. During that stretch, Hawai‘i produced the first trio of 1,000-yard receivers in program history and won the Hawai‘i Bowl as West Division champions while ranking among the national leaders in passing and total offense. Mack also coached at Houston Baptist as offensive quality control coordinator and running backs coach, helping the Huskies average nearly 400 yards per game. He spent a season at North Texas coaching inside receivers and return specialists, helping the Mean Green win the Conference USA West Division and earn a berth in the New Orleans Bowl.
