Josh Niblett

Biography

Josh Niblett was named tight ends coach at Colorado in January 2026. Niblett joined the Buffaloes after a highly successful 26-year head coaching career at the high school level, most recently serving four seasons at Gainesville (Ga.) High School. He guided the Red Elephants to a 45-9 record, including appearances in the Class 5A state championship game in 2022 and 2025. Prior to Gainesville, Niblett spent 14 seasons as head coach at Hoover (Ala.) High School, compiling a 171-26 record and winning six state championships. He also led Hoover to multiple additional state championship appearances, cementing the program as one of the premier high school football powers in the nation. Before his tenure at Hoover, Niblett served as head coach at Oneonta (Ala.) High School, where he built the program into a state champion, culminating with a 3A state title in 2004. He also coached at Oxford (Ala.) High School for three seasons. Across four head coaching stops, Niblett compiled a career record of 281-67 and became the only coach in Alabama state history to win seven state championships. In his role at Colorado, Niblett coaches the tight ends and brings decades of experience in offensive development, quarterback play and program culture building. His teams have consistently been recognized for disciplined execution and championship-level standards.
