Champy Halim

Assistant Coach

Halim is in his sixth year as an assistant tennis coach. "Coming to Miami from Indonesia to play on the men’s tennis team changed my life," said Halim. "I grew as a player and as a person and met my wife in Oxford. So it is my honor and privilege to invest my knowledge and passion for the game of tennis to our student-athletes as I begin the journey as a Assistant Coach with the Miami tennis team!" Halim returns to Miami where he was a four-year letter-winner. He was named Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year in 1996 and MAC Player of the Year in 1997. He also earned first-team All-MAC honors in 1996 and 1997 and as a senior he earned the MAC Senior Sportsmanship Award as well 1999. Since joining the RedHawks, Halim has seen Miami capture three MAC regular season championships (2022, 2024, 2025), while also helping to produce the 2021 and 2025 MAC Player of the Year award winner. “I am excited to have a Miami men's tennis alum joining our program as an assistant coach,” said Rosas. “I have known Champy for a long time; he understands fully what it means to be a Miami student-athlete and compete for championships. His knowledge of the game, his experience as a player, his desire to give back to his alma mater will be a tremendous asset to our team and program!” Prior to arriving at Miami, he had an ITF ranking of 36 in singles and 12 in doubles and participated in Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon. He also represented Indonesia in the Junior Davis Cup. Halim h
