Joe Rudolph

Biography

Joe Rudolph is the Joe Moore Offensive Line Coach at Notre Dame. A native of Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania, Rudolph played offensive line at Wisconsin (1991-94) and had brief NFL stints with the Philadelphia Eagles (1995) and San Francisco 49ers (1997). He holds degrees from Wisconsin (1995) and Carnegie-Mellon (2004). Rudolph is a proven developer of talent who has coached at Ohio State, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, and Notre Dame. At Wisconsin (2015-21), his offensive lines compiled 18,399 rushing yards and earned nine All-American selections. He developed standout players including Jonathan Taylor (2x unanimous All-American, 2020 2nd-round pick), Tyler Biadasz (Rimington Award winner, 2020 4th-round pick), and Ryan Ramczyk (All-American, 2017 1st-round pick). At Pittsburgh (2012-14), Rudolph served as offensive coordinator and developed James Conner into an All-American and 2017 3rd-round selection. In 2023, his first season at Notre Dame, the offensive line was named a Joe Moore Award semifinalist and helped Joe Alt earn All-American honors. In 2024, despite four different offensive line makeups, the unit was again named a Joe Moore Award semifinalist as Notre Dame reached the national championship game. In 2025, Rudolph's offensive line helped the Irish finish 2nd in scoring offense and led to Billy Schrauth being selected in the 5th round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
