Glenn & Stacey Murphy Head Men's Basketball Coach
On March 24, 2023, an Indiana native came home to kickstart a new era of Notre Dame men's basketball. Micah Shrewsberry was announced as the 18th head coach in Fighting Irish men's basketball history. Shrewsberry brought a wealth of experience and success to the helm of the Notre Dame program. He's coached in six NCAA Tournaments, two NCAA Final Fours, five NBA Playoffs and two NBA Conference Finals – in addition to coaching all-NBA honorees Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Prior to Notre Dame, Shrewsberry produced a historic turnaround as the head coach at Penn State, achieving a 23-14 record in 2022-23 and leading the Nittany Lions to their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2011. Before Penn State, he had two stints at Purdue as assistant and associate head coach, six seasons with the NBA's Boston Celtics under Brad Stevens, and four years at Butler University where he helped the Bulldogs make three NCAA Tournament appearances and back-to-back runs to the national championship game. An Indianapolis area native, Shrewsberry earned his bachelor's degree from Hanover College in 1999 and a master's degree from Indiana State in 2003. He and his wife, Molly, have four children.

A Fort Wayne, Indiana, native and former Purdue student-athlete and graduate assistant, Grady Eifert joined Shrewsberry's staff ahead of the 2023-24 season. Eifert, who served as a video coordinator in both years at Penn State under Shrewsberry, began his stint with the Irish as Development & Recruiting Coordinator. In the summer of 2025, his title changed to Assistant Coach. He kickstarts year three with the Irish for the 2025-26 season. Prior to following Shrewsberry to Penn State, Eifert spent the previous two seasons on staff at Purdue as a graduate assistant. His role included opponent scouting, film breakdown and helping with individual workouts and administrative duties. Eifert, along with Tre Whitted, have helped developed the strongest guard duo in the ACC. That's right, Markus Burton and Braeden Shrewsberry had the highest combined scoring average amongst any other ACC guard duo. Burton was the 2024 ACC Rookie of the Year and now a two-time All-ACC selection with Second Team honors in 2025. Burton led the ACC in scoring during the 2024-25 season, averaging 23.5 ppg. Then there's Shrewsberry, who grew his game from year one to year two. Case in point, last season he averaged 14.0 ppg, up from his rookie year's 10.2. As a student-athlete, Eifert arrived at Purdue as a freshman walk-on before earning a scholarship as a sophomore and working his way to starting all 36 games as a senior for a Purdue squad that advanced the Elite Eight in his senior season. Eifert shot ov

Kebba Njie averaged 3.8 ppg over his first two seasons and jumped up to 6.1 as a junior. Farrelly was instrumental in the two-year turnaround that occurred in Happy Valley at Penn State. Prior to Penn State, Farrelly served eight years on the bench at Hofstra, which included a stint acting head coach for the 2020-21 season. Over Farrelly's last six years at Hofstra, the program averaged 20 wins per season, including a program-best 27 wins in 2018-19. He helped lead Hofstra to back-to-back CAA regular-season championships in 2019 and 2020. Prior to Hofstra, Farrelly spent two seasons at Niagara and the 2010-11 season as an assistant coach at Mount Saint Mary's. Before rejoining the collegiate coaching ranks, Farrelly served as the director of Hoop Group Elite from 2007-10. Originally from New City, New York, Farrelly played for three years under Phil Martelli at St. Joseph's and graduated with a degree in finance in 2003.

A leader, a developer and relationship builder, Owens is an Indiana basketball guy through and through. He brings over two decades of experience as a player, business manager, college coach and AAU coach. Owens begins year three with the Irish for the 2025-26 season. In addition, Jalen Haralson became the highest rated prospect to commit to the Irish in the modern era – a consensus five-star recruit and top-rated player in the state of Indiana. Year one in South Bend was about establishing the right culture with one of the youngest teams in the ACC. It was a program that returned 1.6 percent of scoring from a year prior and was projected to finish last in the ACC. The result was a Notre Dame squad hitting its stride in the final month of play. The Irish doubled its ACC win total from the previous year, finishing 7-13, which included wins over Virginia and Clemson. Owens' path started as a student-athlete at the University of Southern Indiana where he was Team Captain and Defensive Player of the Year. He later went on to earn his Master's at In
