Matt Florer

Biography

After spending the first nine years of his coaching career in the West Coast Conference, Matt Florer is in his first year on Mark Wasikowski's staff at Oregon. Throughout his coaching career, Florer has been instrumental in recruiting and developing top-tier talent, including 10 All-Americans, nine conference player of the year recipients and 43 all-conference players. His impact extends beyond the collegiate level with 26 of his players going on to professional careers through the MLB Draft and free-agent signings. During his nine seasons serving as a pitching coach in the West Coast Conference at San Diego and Loyola Marymount, Florer's pitching staffs led their teams to either regular-season or conference-tournament championships in 2017, 2022, 2024 and 2025, while leading the league in earned run average three times and boasting the conference pitcher of the year twice. Eight of Florer's pitchers earned first-team All-WCC honors during his time coaching in the league.
