Richmond led the Patriot League and ranked fourth nationally in passing defense, allowing just 155.3 yards per game, while finishing second in the conference in scoring defense at 22.7 points per game and third in interceptions with 11. The Spiders also ranked second in the Patriot League and sixth nationally in total defense, surrendering just 290.3 yards per game, and third in the league in tackles for loss at 6.1 per contest. Hoilette emerged as one of the conference’s most disruptive defenders, posting career highs with 48 tackles and 13 tackles for loss for -79 yards, while leading the team in sacks with 9.0 for -70 yards, good for third in the Patriot League and 22nd nationally. Byrd anchored the opposite end, recording 34 tackles, including 11.5 tackles for loss for -83 yards, and ranking second on the team in sacks with 8.5 for -66 yards, good for fourth in the Patriot League and 24th nationally, while also ranking second in the conference and 15th overall in forced fumbles with three. Co-Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks
2025 marked Jacob Huesman’s third season on Russ Huesman’s staff as quarterbacks coach and first as Co-Offensive Coordinator and play caller. Huesman joined the Richmond staff in 2023 as quarterbacks coach before adding Pass Game Coordinator to his title in 2024 and Co-Offensive Coordinator in January 2025. In 2025, under Huesman’s leadership, Richmond used two quarterbacks, with Kyle Wickersham playing in 10 games, starting nine, completing 137-of-212 passes for 1,352 yards and nine touchdowns, while leading the Patriot League in completion percentage at 64.6 percent. Wickersham also contributed as Richmond’s second-leading rusher with 438 yards on 115 carries and six touchdowns. Ashten Sensilire also played in 10 games, starting three, going 58-of-111 passing for 848 yards and eight touchdowns, while rushing 53 times for 188 yards and three scores. Sensilire had a career day against Bucknell on October 4, throwing four touchdowns for 307 yards, and helped rally Richmond to its first-ever Patriot League win against Colgate on October 11, throwing a 75-yard touchdown and scoring a rushing touchdown. He also came off the bench against William & Mary on November 22 to lead a game-winning 13-play, 91-yard drive in the fourth quarter. The Spiders ranked third in the Patriot League in rushing with 1,772 yards, averaging 147.7 yards per game, and the offensive line allowed just 14 sacks on the season (1.17 per game), ranking third in the league and 14th nationally at the FCS level.

Cornerbacks/Defensive Recruiting Coordinator

Against Howard, Fraser delivered one of the year’s top defensive plays with a 55-yard interception return to help Richmond earn the comeback victory. 2025 also saw the rise of youngsters Devin Geronomi and Amir Haskett. Under Zacharias' direction, Geronomi, a freshman, tallied 27 tackles, including a tackle for loss, and added three pass breakups, highlighted by a season- and career-high six tackles at Georgetown on Nov. 8. Wide Receivers
Jerry Taylor joined Russ Huesman's staff as wide receivers coach in January 2025. Taylor comes to Richmond after stops including Columbia, William & Mary, Dartmouth, Virginia State, Saint Francis, and the Buffalo Bills. Tight Ends
Kyle Edwards joined Russ Huesman’s staff as tight ends coach in March 2024. Edwards comes to Richmond after working with some of the nation's top programs and coaches at stops including Alabama and Maryland. In 2025 Richmond’s tight ends contributed in both the passing and blocking game. Aidan Stenfeldt, a transfer from Marshall, recorded five catches for 28 yards and played a key role in the blocking schemes that helped the offensive line rank third in the Patriot League in rushing offense with 1,772 yards, averaging 147.7 yards per game. The line also allowed just 14 sacks on the season (1.17 per game), ranking third in the Patriot League and 14th nationally at the FCS level, while supporting quarterback Kyle Wickersham in leading the Patriot League in completion percentage at 64.6 percent. In his first season with the Spiders in 2024, Edwards helped guide tight end Matt Robbert to become Richmond's fifth-leading receiver, with 264 yards and a touchdown. Robbert averaged 11 yards per catch and 20.31 yards per game, while the tight end group also contributed to blocking for a Spiders run game that ranked second in the CAA in rushing yards with 2,527. As a whole, the Spiders' offense recorded 27.15 points per game and 380.4 yards per game, finishing fourth in the CAA in total offense with 4,945 yards. Co-Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line

The line’s consistent play also supported quarterbacks Kyle Wickersham and Ashten Sensilire, helping Wickersham lead the Patriot League in completion percentage and contributing to the Spiders’ rushing production.

Running Backs
Rachid Ibrahim joined Russ Huesman’s staff as running backs coach in March 2024. Ibrahim comes to the Spiders after coaching stints at Virginia Tech and Wisconsin. Under Ibrahim's guidance in 2025, Aziz Foster-Powell, named Second Team All-Patriot League, led the team with 594 yards on 125 carries, scoring four rushing touchdowns and adding a receiving touchdown. Andrew King totaled 178 yards and one touchdown on 29 carries, including 100 yards and a touchdown against VMI on September 20, and caught 23 passes for 173 yards and three touchdowns. Jamaal Brown finished as the team’s third-leading rusher with 296 yards on 65 carries, including a career-high 153 yards and a 43-yard long run against VMI, marking his first 100-yard game. Richmond ranked third in the Patriot League in rushing offense with 1,772 yards (147.7 per game) and eighth in the league in yards per carry at 4.54 under Ibrahim. In his first season with Richmond, Ibrahim guided running back Zach Palmer-Smith to a 1,382-yard season and Second Team All-CAA honors, making Palmer-Smith the first Spider to rush for over 1,000 yards since 2015. Palmer-Smith finished the year second in the CAA and seventh nationally in rushing yards per game, helping Richmond rank second in the CAA as a team in rushing yards with 2,527.
