Jamie Spangler

Biography

Jamie Spangler was named head coach of The University of Scranton women's volleyball program prior to the 2013 season. He is the 12th head coach in the women's volleyball program history. He has led the Royals to a total of 232 victories including a school record 35 in 2017 when he was named the Landmark Conference Coach of the Year and saw junior Kristin Kirwin earn All-American honorable mention accolades. In 2021, senior middle hitter Eryn Boken became the third player in program history to earn AVCA All-American honors and the Royals went 25-8 on the season to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2005. Scranton earned consecutive at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament in 2021 & 2022 and notched a 3-0 victory over St. John Fisher in the opening round of the 2022 tournament. In his first 12 seasons at the helm, Spangler has led the Royals to berths in the Landmark Conference Tournament in each season highlighted by runner-up finishes in 2017, 2021, 2022, 2023 & 2024. Spangler also led Scranton to 23 wins in 2014 and 25 victories in 2015. Spangler came to Scranton after spending 2012-13 as the head boys' and girls' volleyball coach at nearby Abington Heights High School in Clarks Summit, Pa., where he graduated in 2005.
