Ruth McGolpin

Biography

Ruth McGolpin is the head coach of Westmont women's volleyball. In her first season as head coach in 2019, McGolpin led the Warriors to their first ever NAIA national championship game appearance, finishing 31-8 and #2 in the NAIA Postseason Coaches' Poll. She has coached at Westmont since 2015, initially serving as an assistant coach for four years where she worked with setters and recruiting. McGolpin was honored as GSAC Assistant Coach of the Year in 2016 and 2018, and AVCA West Region Assistant Coach of the Year. Her coaching experience extends back to 1992 at high school and college levels, including positions at UC Santa Barbara, Colorado Mesa University, University of South Carolina, and Northern Arizona University, where she earned both degrees. As a player, McGolpin was a four-year starting setter at Northern Arizona University (1987-1989, 1991), establishing a school record with 1,519 assists in her senior year and finishing with 4,011 career assists, 1,199 digs, and 56 double-doubles. She was inducted into NAU's Hall of Fame in 2000 and named to the Big Sky All-Decade Team. A Santa Barbara native and Dos Pueblos High School three-sport star, McGolpin continues competing in USA Open Adult Nationals and has been named to all-tournament teams multiple times.
