Bringing nearly two decades of collegiate coaching experience – including 15 as head coach – Brie Galicinao is in her fourth season as Cal Poly’s pitching coach. Galicinao’s impact upon Cal Poly’s rotation was immediate during her initial 2023 season with righthander Sophia Ramuno earning both All-Big West and Big West All-Freshman Team selection. Ramuno repeated an All-Big West honor in 2024 as Cal Poly’s staff finished second among conference programs in total strikeouts (228) and opposing batting average (.259) and third in ERA (3.02). Galicinao arrived at Cal Poly in July 2022 after serving as UC Santa Barbara’s head coach from 2008-22. A two-time Big West Coach of the Year honoree with the Gauchos, Galicinao remains ninth in conference history with 343 total victories and 12th with 138 conference wins. Galicinao’s teams produced more 30-win seasons – five – than any previous UC Santa Barbara head coach. Galicinao became the 11th coach to win 300 games at a Big West member program on May 11, 2019 while UC Santa Barbara's 35-win season in 2014 matched the program record for total victories. Under Galicinao, UC Santa Barbara produced 63 total All-Big West selections with the program enjoying 34 Big West All-Academic honors.
