He came to the Valley from Northern Illinois where he spent the 2019-24 seasons as the defensive line coach and recruiting coordinator. In his first season with the Bulldogs, Gigli (pronounced GEE-lee) coached two All-Mountain West selections in Finn Claypool and Deijon Laffitte. Junior Jahzon Jacks was the FBS leader with four fumble recoveries in 2025. Gigli was a key piece to a defensive staff that led one of the top defenses in the FBS as Fresno State ranked 10th in the country allowing an average of 285.7 yards per game in 2025.
