Assistant Coach
Justin Lupone joined GW as a full time Assistant Coach in November of 2024 after serving as a volunteer Coach for two years (2022-2024) while attending GW as a graduate student earning his Masters in Exercise and Physiology with a concentration in Strength & Conditioning. Lupone is currently responsible for managing the day-to-day operations and implementing team workouts for the Men’s and Women’s Teams Sprint, Hurdle and Jump event groups. In Lupone’s first year as a full time coach at GW he led the Women’s Sprint group to scoring at the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship in the 4 x 400, 4 x 100 and 400m events for the first time in school history. Individually, Lupone has continued to coach numerous individuals to shatter numerous program and personal records. Lupone comes to GW with a background in Football and Track as an Athlete. He coached in Massachusetts for four years (2018 – 2022) in Football, Track and Strength & Conditioning at the high school level as well as in the private section.

Associate Head Coach / Recruiting Coordinator
GW’s Cross Country and Track & Field Head Coach Terry Weir has announced the promotion of Samantha Nadel to associate head coach. “Over the past four years, Coach Sam has played a pivotal role in elevating our program,” said Weir. “As recruiting coordinator, she has worked tirelessly to attract talented student-athletes, building depth and strength as our track and field squads have expanded. Her positive energy, tireless work ethic and ability to connect with and motivate athletes have been central to our continued growth.” A graduate of both Georgetown University and the University of Oregon and a six-time All-American runner, Nadel embodies the balance of high-level academics and athletics. She brings exceptional leadership qualities to the staff and has been instrumental in shaping the future of the program over the past five seasons. A native of Glen Head, N.Y., Nadel joined the GW coaching staff in fall 2021 as an assistant coach and the team’s recruiting coordinator. Prior to joining the Buff & Blue, Nadel served as assistant distance coach for the men’s and women’s programs at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she was instrumental in recruiting two of the top classes in the nation. After arriving at GW, Nadel guided the women’s cross country team to its first Atlantic 10 team title in program history in 2021 along with a runner-up finish at the conference meet in 2023.
