Mike Esposito was named the director of Track & Field at HPU in 2005 since then Espo has taken High Point Track to new heights. Esposito led both the men's and women's programs to their first Big South team Championships in 2020 at the Big South Indoor Track and Field Championships. Coming back after the COVID stoppage Espo and the Panthers followed up their double championship win indoors with both teams winning the Big South outdoor championships for the first time in 2021 inside Vert Stadium. Since 2021, HPU has swept five straight outdoor Big South Championships and recently won back-to-back-to-back men's and women's indoor Big South Championships in 2023, 2024 and 2025. Under Esposito, 35 Panthers have earned All-Big South men's cross country accolades. A total of 13 Panthers earned all-conference honors while Esposito was in charge of the women's cross country program.

Hillary Holmes joined the High Point University track & field staff in July 2022 to coach the high jump and combined events. In her first three years at HPU, there have been Five HPU school records, 16 Big South Conference 1st place finishes, Six NCAA First-Round Qualifiers, Three NCAA Qualifiers and One NCAA First-Team All-American. Prior to joining the staff at HPU, Holmes coached at Auburn University from 2020-22 where she made contributions to the combined events and jumps. Holmes earned her PhD in Biomechanics from Auburn in 2022. Prior, she completed a Master of Science in Human Performance from the University of Florida in 2017. She is certified in strength and conditioning through the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) and has her CSCS through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Holmes graduated from Cornell University in 2016 as team captain.

In his five years at HPU, he has added to these accolades rewriting school records in throws (11), jumps(4) and combined events(3). During the 2020 indoor season, freshman Chris Van Niekerk captured the Big South title in the shot put and set the school record of 17.38m. Pablo Romero won his fourth Heptathlon crown with a school-record 5382 points, leading a podium sweep with teammates Gabriel Stainback-2nd and Benjamin Johnsen 3rd. Anika Weisbrod won her first Big South title in a school-record performance of 3497 points with Madison Reynolds in 4th.

High Point University athletic director Dan Hauser named Remy Tamer as women's cross country head coach in late August 2016. In his first season at HPU, Tamer led the women's cross country team to a second-place finish at the Big South Championships and had four runners earn All-Big South honors, including Natalia Ocasio and Cozette Collin, who finished third and fourth, respectively. Tamer then guided Ocasio and Collin to Big South titles in the 3,000m steeplechase and 1,500m, respectively, at the conference outdoor track and field meet. In 2017, women's cross country ran to its fourth conference title since 2010 and, in the process, tied the record for the largest margin of victory in conference history since 1996. The women's team repeated as champions in the 2018 and 2019 campaigns. Famke Heinst claimed Big South Cross Country individual titles in 2017, 2018, and 2019.

One of the best active pole vaulters in the United States, Scott Houston joined the High Point University track & field staff in September 2015 as an assistant coach. The Panthers have seen the fruits of hiring Houston, as HPU has captured eight Big South pole vault titles in Houston's four seasons. Houston finished fourth at the USA Indoor Championships in 2015 and fifth at the outdoor national championships in 2017. He cleared the World Championship standard of 5.78m (18-11.5) at the Charlotte Street Vault in July 2017. Most recently, Houston claimed a national title at the 2018 USATF Indoor Championships, while earning his first international gold at the North American, Central American and Caribbean Championships. Houston came to HPU after serving as a volunteer assistant at Indiana University from 2013-15 while pursuing a post-collegiate pole vault career. The Oak Ridge, N.C., native is an accomplished vaulter that starred at both the University of North Carolina and Indiana.

In her first year with High Point, Panther sprinters/hurdlers claimed a pair of podium spots at the 2018 Big South Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Over the 2018-19 campaigns, High Point collected seven top-three finishes in the same set of events in addition to tying or bettering eight program records. With Pruitt's guidance, sprinter/jumper Daniel Bogle collected 2019 Big South Indoor Freshman of the Year honors in his first year with the Panthers. Pruitt came to High Point from Bradley University, where she served as an assistant coach and worked with and recruited the sprints, hurdles and jumps groups. Prior to Bradley, she served as a volunteer assistant coach at Wichita State from 2014-16 and also worked with the Shocker Track Club.
