Director for Student-Athlete Development and Success
Brett Miller comes to Rutgers University with a diverse background of experience that includes collegiate coaching, and corporate roles. Miller then spent one year at Monmouth serving as an assistant baseball coach, performing a variety of duties including, individualized practice plans and assisting in the development of student-athletes both on and off the field. Most recently, Miller was a member of the Frostburg State coaching staff in 2018-2020. While there, he supported the program's transition from Division III to Division II baseball. Miller, an outfielder on the York College (Pa.) baseball team, earned his bachelor's degree in sport management in 2014 followed by a master's degree in education from Frostburg State University in 2020. Miller currently resides in Roselle, New Jersey.

He managed inquiries regarding MSG trademark usage in television and film projects and served as liaison between MSG and the NBA, NHL, and major studios. Phillips is a 2004 Rutgers University graduate with a degree in sports management and earned his MBA in marketing and strategy from the Rutgers School of Business in 2019.

James Catanzarite serves as the Director of Operations for the Rutgers Field Hockey program, starting ahead of the 2023 program. He originally joined Rutgers Athletics as an Olympic Sports Coordinator working directly with the Scarlet Knight field hockey and softball programs in July of 2021. A graduate of the State University of New Jersey, Catanzarite is familiar to Rutgers Athletics having spent two seasons as Scarlet Knight baseball's head student manager and previously serving as a Rutgers Athletics Facilities & Operations Intern. Additionally, he was a Sport Club Graduate Intern Supervisor with Rutgers Recreation assisting over 50 sport club organizations and worked as a graduate intern in academic support at Seton Hall. On the field, Catanzarite also has experience as a Little League coach. A native of Livingston, New Jersey, Catanzarite graduated from Rutgers in 2019 with a degree in sport management and recently received his Master's in education.

Equipment Manager
John Reardon joined the Rutgers Athletics staff as an equipment manager in September 1984. He has assisted the staff of all 24 sports during his tenure at Rutgers. Currently, "JR" provides daily support to the baseball and tennis programs. A 1983 Marietta College graduate, 2026 marks Reardon’s 27th season patrolling the dugout as the equipment manager for Rutgers Baseball. Spanning three Conference affiliations – the Big East, American and Big Ten – the Scarlet Knights have captured over 600 wins on the diamond during JR’s equipment tenure. JR has been mentored by three 1000-win baseball coaches during his his baseball career: Don Schaly of Marietta College (1,442), Rutgers Hall of Famer Fred Hill (1,089) and current Rutgers head coach Steve Owens (1,075). A member of the AEMA and the Schutt Football Helmet advisory committee while a football equipment manager, JR worked the Rutgers football sidelines through the 2000 season. The veteran “Voice of the RAC,” Reardon can be found center court with the microphone for men’s basketball games and wrestling matches, and was the “Man behind the Mic,” for the Rutgers women’s basketball runs to the Final Four (1999-00) and National Championship game (2006-07). JR’s passion for announcing has its roots as the public address announcer of the NCAA Division III Baseball World Series from 1981-87. The staff takes an active role in players’ academic progress. Each coach keeps a daily account of their assigned players’ class and tutor schedule, when assignments are due and when tests are approaching, thus offering continued focus and support. As part of the staff’s commitment to academics, the Scarlet Knights have a full-time academic advisor who oversees all areas of the team’s academic life. Assistant Director of Academic Services for Student-Athletes Randi Larson works closely with the student-athletes, coaches and instructors to facilitate and enhance academic progress. Larson’s role with the basketball team includes help with scheduling, study skills and time management plus providing tutors and services necessary for top academic performance. Through effective and constant communication with student-athletes, coaches, instructors, college deans and other university administrators, Larson is able to anticipate the needs of the student-athletes and provide support and structure for the fulfillment of each player’s academic goals.
