Ajay Vyas is in his eighth season with the Rutgers men’s soccer program as the Director of Operations. Vyas coordinates all of the program's day-to-day operations in all aspects including team travel, game day organization, practice operations and recruiting. Vyas also serves as the liaison for all professional teams using Rutgers facilities. During the summer of 2025, he oversaw all needs for visiting clubs such as FC Porto, PSG and West Hamm United FC. Prior to joining the Scarlet Knight staff, Vyas spent three seasons as the Director of Operations for the Santa Clara men’s soccer team. While with the Broncos, he was responsible for coordinating recruiting and travel logistics, in addition to working with the team’s budget and running the team’s social media accounts. He also planned the squad’s Denmark Foreign Tour in 2018. During his time on the west coast, Vyas was also the Local Team Liaison Officer with Copa America Centario in 2016, coordinating needs for Team USA, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Jamaica and Uruguay during their stay in the Bay Area. Vyas also has experience working with the United States Soccer Federation as the Youth Team Coordinator for the U15 Boys Youth National Team Camp in Bradenton, Florida. Earning his degree in Sports Management from St. John’s (N.Y.) in 2014, Vyas was the head team manager for the Red Storm men’s soccer team and worked as a member of the St. John’s Athletics event staff.

BJ Merriam serves as Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director & Chief Compliance Officer for Rutgers Athletics. Merriam, who returned to Rutgers in 2023, leads the department's Office of Athletics Compliance, overseeing all aspects of NCAA, Big Ten and institutional compliance while playing a central role in risk management, policy development and revenue-share implementation. In his role, Merriam serves as a key member of the department's leadership team, helping guide strategy related to revenue allocation and Name, Image and Likeness (NIL). He works closely with campus partners including the Office of General Counsel, University Ethics & Compliance, Financial Aid, Admissions and the Registrar to ensure alignment across all regulatory and operational areas. Merriam also serves as the sport administrator for baseball and men's soccer, overseeing program operations, student-athlete welfare and competitive success. He manages a compliance staff responsible for directing rules education, monitoring and policy enforcement across all 24 sports. Prior to returning to Rutgers, Merriam served as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance & Internal Operations at Rider University, where he acted as Chief Compliance Officer and Deputy Title IX Coordinator. He oversaw compliance for all 19 sports, implemented a new compliance software system, introduced NIL programming and served as sport administrator for nine programs. Erin Neri begins her third year as Associate Director, Communications, serving as the primary contact for men's soccer, women's basketball and tennis. A native of Nutley, New Jersey, Neri spent the previous two years at Towson University, where she worked with the Tigers' women's basketball, field hockey, women's lacrosse, cross country/track & field and tennis programs. During her time at Towson, the women's basketball program enjoyed one of its most successful season in school history, eclipsing 24 wins and earning its first WNIT bid since 1969. Prior to Towson, Neri spent two years as the primary student contact for the nationally-ranked Penn State men's tennis team in State College, Pennsylvania. In 2019, she saw the Nittany Lions earn their eighth NCAA Tournament appearance in school history and first since 2016. Neri also worked closely with other successful programs such as men's and women's ice hockey, football, men's lacrosse and women's basketball. Before joining the Nittany Lions strategic communications department, Neri covered the Penn State men's ice hockey and lacrosse teams for GoPSUsports.com as a blogger. Neri covered the hockey team's run in both the 2018 Big Ten Tournament and NCAA Tournament. During the summer of 2019, Neri served as the Media Relations/Social Media intern for the Somerset Patriots, the now New York Yankees double-A affiliate in Bridgewater, New Jersey. Wyse enters his eighth season in 2026 as associate head coach on Jim McElderry's staff at Rutgers after spending nine seasons with McElderry on the Fordham staff helping the Rams to three NCAA Tournament appearances as well as two Atlantic 10 championship titles. He was named one of the country's top assistants by College Soccer News in 2017. Wyse saw the team to an 8-6-3 record in the fall of 2025, including Big Ten wins over Penn State (1-0), Ohio State (2-0) and Wisconsin (4-2). He helped to bring in an exceptional transfer/freshmen class which accounted for 21 of the team's 28 goals. Joschi Schelb led the way with seven scores and was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team. Transfers Schelb (18) Dan Karsten (13) and Andrew Kitch (10) also ended the season with double digit points. In 2024, Wyse helped lead the Scarlet Knights in an exciting campaign, picking up two top-10 wins for just the second time in program history, over No. 8 Wisconsin (3-1) and No. 10 Maryland (3-1). Joey Zalinsky (37th overall) and Nick Collins (85th overall) were chosen in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft, continuing a long line for professional success for the program. A double graduate of Rutgers University, Gilah Rosenberg has worked as an academic advisor with the Scarlet Knights since 2012. In her current role, Rosenberg oversees the academic welfare of student-athletes from RU's men's soccer, women's golf, women's lacrosse and wrestling programs. Rosenberg's responsibilities include advisement on majors, degree programs and degree completion, as well as the oversite of the department's study hall program. Rosenberg also arranges weekly meetings with individual student-athletes regarding time management, grades, major selection, graduation and personal development. During her tenure with Rutgers Athletics, Rosenberg has also worked as a tutoring coordinator, a supplemental instructor and a graduate intern in the academic department. Prior to her return "To the Banks", Rosenberg was an athletic academic advisor at the University of Delaware from 2011-12. There, Rosenberg worked with the Blue Hens' field hockey, men's Lacrosse and men's and women's swimming programs. Rosenberg earned her bachelor's degree in Communications in 2009 and her master's degree in Education in 2011 from the University.

Joseph Mortarulo, who has made his mark on the soccer landscape at all levels of competition - high school, collegiate, professional and international - enters his eighth season in 2026 on Jim McElderry’s Rutgers men’s soccer staff as an assistant coach. Mortarulo saw the team to an 8-6-3 record in the fall of 2025, including Big Ten wins over Penn State (1-0), Ohio State (2-0) and Wisconsin (4-2). The defense, led by senior goalkeeper Ciaran Dalton, was solid throughout the season, ending with five shutouts. Dalton cemented his name in the record books, ranking fifth all-time with 62 career games in net and 230 career saves. Nick Collins (3) and Devon Stopek (1) also excelled on offense each finding the back of the net. Braxton Montgomery played all 17 games for the Scarlet Knights on the backline during his first campaign and was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team. Kyle Brostrand enters his 12th year on the Rutgers Sports Health staff in 2025. In his primary role as Assistant Director of Athletic Training, Brostrand oversees the medical care for the Scarlet Knights men’s soccer program. Brostrand also serves as Coordinator of Concussion Management & Research for the Sports Health department. As the athletic trainer for men's soccer, Brostrand manages the rehabilitation and injury prevention needs for the team year-round. He is certified in Myofascial Decompression, Graston and Blood Flow Restriction rehabilitation techniques. In his role as Coordinator of Concussion Management, he is responsible for organizing and overseeing current return to play and return to learn protocols for all Rutgers student-athletes who may sustain a concussion. He also provides clinical care and rehabilitation services for athletes with prolonged symptoms following concussions. He is involved in several research studies and is an active member in the Big Ten - Ivy League Traumatic Brain Injury Research Collaboration. Prior to his time at Rutgers, Brostrand worked as a graduate assistant with the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League during the 2013-2014 regular and postseason. Brostrand received a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Rutgers University (2012) and a Master of Science degree in Athletic Training from Seton Hall University (2014).
