Terrence Samuel

Biography

Terrence Samuel is in his fourth season as the wide receivers coach at Kansas after joining the staff of Lance Leipold in December 2021. Since joining the Jayhawks, Samuel has coached Kansas' wide receivers unit to new heights as Samuel coached three Jayhawks (Luke Grimm, Lawrence Arnold, Quentin Skinner) into the top-20 in Kansas career receiving yards. In 2024, Grimm finished out his Kansas career ranking second in career receiving touchdowns (23) and third in career receiving yards (2,472). Samuel helped the Jayhawks to back-to-back bowl games for only the second time in program history, as the 2023 season was another step forward for Kansas Football. The Jayhawks had a two-win improvement in the regular season, finishing 8-4 to secure a winning record for the first time since 2008, while the eight wins are the most by KU in the regular season since 2007. Kansas had the No. 4 scoring offense and No 7 total offense in the Big 12 in 2023, with six different wide receivers combining for 11 touchdown receptions. Two of KU’s veteran receivers – Lawrence Arnold and Luke Grimm – have also moved into the top 10 of multiple career categories at Kansas, including receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns. In his first season in Lawrence, Samuel assisted as the Jayhawks qualified for a bowl game for the first time since 2008 and reached the Associated Press Top 25 for the first time since 2009.
