Last updated December 2024 Fleming's Record (through 2024 season): Career (20 years): 390-184 Dave Fleming Year-by-Year Record Dave Fleming was named the 11th head coach of UNT volleyball on Dec. 24, 2024 and enters his first season in 2025. Prior to joining the Mean Green, Fleming spent 20 years as head coach at Colorado Mesa in Grand Junction, Colo. Fleming posted a record of 390-184 (.679) with the Mavericks and holds the program record for career winning percentage. During the 2024 season, he became the active wins leader among all Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference coaches. In total, Fleming tallied 258 conference victories and won four league championships during his time in Grand Junction. The Mavs have held a position inside the AVCA Division II Coaches Top 25 Poll for the final 41 consecutive weeks of his tenure, a streak that dates to Aug. 29, 2022. Fleming won four RMAC Coach of the Year awards and added AVCA South Central Region Coach of the Year honors in 2014. He coached 21 All-Americans and 80 all-conference players, including three RMAC Player of the Year winners, three Setter of the Year honorees and three Freshman of the Year selections. Before he took the head job at CMU, Fleming served as an assistant coach at UCLA for four seasons. Assistant Coach
Adam Campbell joined UNT volleyball as an assistant coach in January 2024. Campbell served as technical coordinator at Marquette in 2023 after he was promoted from volunteer assistant coach after his first year. Over two seasons, he helped lead the Golden Eagles to a cumulative 50-15 record with consecutive BIG EAST regular season titles and back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, reaching the regional semifinals in 2022. Campbell coached 11 all-conference selections, five AVCA All-Region honorees and one AVCA All-American, setter Yadhira Anchante, while at Marquette. Prior to his two-year stint with the Golden Eagles, he was the assistant program director and summer camp director for Milwaukee Sting Volleyball Club. He also served as the technical director for setting and coached with Platform Elite Volleyball Club in Bettendorf, Iowa. Campbell was a graduate assistant at St. Ambrose for two seasons. With the Bees, he coached five all-conference performers and one NAIA All-American selection. Campbell graduated from St. Ambrose with a bachelor’s degree in English education in 2020 and completed his master’s in organizational leadership in 2022. He played setter and defensive specialist for the men’s varsity volleyball team and was named a team captain.

Kennedy Shelstead was hired as UNT volleyball’s assistant coach and recruiting coordinator in March 2025. She joined the Mean Green after one season at Pittsburg State (Pittsburg, Kan.) where she worked under head coach Jen Gomez. While with the Gorillas, Shelstead coached one all-conference performer and nine members of the MIAA Academic Honor Roll. Prior to her arrival at Pittsburg State, Shelstead coached four seasons at Arkansas Tech (Russellville, Ark.) with two years as a graduate assistant (2020-21) and two as an assistant coach (2022-23) under Kera Coleman. In 2021, the Golden Suns won the Great American Conference (GAC) tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Division II Championship Tournament for the sixth time in program history. Shelstead began coaching after her four-year playing career with two seasons at John Brown University (2015-16) before she transferred to Abilene Christian (2017-19). She finished her indoor career with 317 sets played, 608 kills and 292 blocks over four seasons. She competed in both indoor and beach during her time at JBU and ACU while she earned a Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll selection in spring 2020 as a member of the Wildcats beach volleyball team. As a sophomore at John Brown, she was named an honorable mention all-league selection for the Sooner Athletic Conference for her indoor performance.
