White is the sixth head coach in program history and will enter his first season with the Mean Green in 2026. Prior to joining North Texas, White was the head coach at the University of Central Oklahoma for 12 years where he compiled a 498-171 (.744) record to become the winningest coach in program history. Among active NCAA head coaches with 12 or fewer years of experience, White leads all divisions with 498 career victories. White's excellence was recognized with four MIAA Coach of the Year awards (2017, 2019, 2023, 2025) and NFCA Division II Central Region Coaching Staff of the Year honors in 2023 and 2025. His teams dominated conference play with a 232-57 record and captured nine MIAA championships, including four conference tournament titles. Over 12 seasons, White led the Bronchos to 10 NCAA Division II Tournament appearances including four trips to the Super Regionals and advanced to the World Series twice in the past three seasons (2023, 2025). The 2023 campaign marked a pinnacle for White's tenure as UCO posted a school-record 54 wins and made its first World Series appearance since 2013, finishing ranked fourth in the nation. Pitching Coach
UNT head softball coach Cody White hired McKenzie Onyango as pitching coach at UNT on June 25, 2025. Onyango, formerly McKenzie Wagoner, played two seasons for the Mean Green and was named Second Team All-Conference USA as a junior and American Conference All-Tournament Team as a senior. As of June 2025, she holds top-10 career UNT marks in seven pitching categories including ERA (2.04), wins (25) and shutouts (7). Before her return to UNT, Onyango worked as the pitching coach at Dodge City Community College for the 2024-25 season. Working under DC3 head coach and former Mean Green assistant Mike Viramontez, Onyango helped lead the Conquistadors to a 14-win improvement from the previous season. Onyango’s bullpen, composed solely of freshmen, lowered its ERA by 63% from the previous season and more than doubled its strikeout total. Four Dodge City players earned recognition from the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) as honorable mention all-league selections. In the summer of 2025, Onyango served as head coach for the Smoky Mountain Rain of the Scenic City Collegiate League which is based in Chattanooga, Tenn. Onyango played four seasons of collegiate softball beginning with a two-year stint at Liberty (2021-22) before she capped her career at UNT (2023-24). She finished her four-year career with 36 wins, seven saves, a 2.09 ERA and 234 strikeouts over 365 1/3 innings pitched.
