Men's Basketball Head Coach
Alex Jensen returned home to his alma mater and was named the 17th head coach in Utah men’s basketball history on March 6, 2025. He was formally introduced on March 17 in front of the Runnin’ Ute faithful on the same court he graced as a player (1994-95, 97-00). Jensen returns to his home state of Utah and Salt Lake City after spending the last two seasons with the Dallas Mavericks (2023-25) on Jason Kidd’s staff. He began his coaching career in 2007 at St. Louis University on the staff of his former Runnin' Utes coach Rick Majerus, a position he held for four seasons before becoming head coach of the Canton Charge of the NBA D-League in 2011. He was then named NBA D-League Coach of the Year just his second season at the helm in 2013. Jensen returned to his home state and joined the Utah Jazz coaching staff in 2013 for 10 seasons. In his first year with the Jazz, he led the D-League Select Team to a 4-1 record against NBA team entries and advanced them to the quarterfinals of the inaugural NBA Summer League Tournament in Las Vegas. During his time in SLC, the Jazz made six-consecutive NBA Playoff appearances (2016-22). Jensen, who is widely known around the league as an elite developer, helped Rudy Gobert garner three NBA All-Star selections on top of being named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year three out of four years (2018, 19, 21). Men's Basketball Assistant Coach
Eric Daniels begins his first season with the University of Utah men’s basketball team in 2025-26 after joining Alex Jensen’s in April of 2025. Daniels returns to a familiar place on the Hill having spent his childhood inside the Jon M. Huntsman while his father, longtime college coach Donny Daniels, served on Rick Majerus’ staff (1989-2000). He spent the 2024-25 season up in Logan under Jerrod Calhoun and helped Utah State advance to the NCAA Tournament for the third-straight season this past year before finishing with a 24-6 overall record. The Aggies had the best start in program history this past season, kicking off the year 10-0. Prior to joining Utah State, Daniels spent five seasons at Weber State (2019-24) on Randy Rahe and Eric Duft’s staff. The Wildcats enjoyed success while Daniels was on staff, finishing in the top-3 for three-consecutive season (2021-23) while also owning the a top-2 defense in the Big Sky during that three-year stretch as well. From a developmental standpoint, he helped Dillon Jones become just the second player in school history to be selected in the first round of the NBA Draft (No. 26-overall) – joining Damian Lillard. Jones was voted the 2024 Big Sky MVP by the league’s head coaches and was also a unanimous First-Team All-Big Sky selection after averaging 20.8 points, 9.8 rebounds and 5.2 assists as a senior. Men's Basketball Executive Assistant
Natalie begins her first season with the Runnin’ Utes basketball program as an executive assistant after joining Alex Jensen's staff in May of 2025. Lainhart joins the staff with familiarity to the state having worked at BYU in different capacities from 2020-24. She spent two seasons on Mark Pope’s staff as an executive assistant from 2020-22 before moving to the operations side with the women’s basketball team from 2022-24. A 2024 graduate of BYU-Idaho, Lainhart started her collegiate basketball career at Idaho (2011-13) before transferring to BYU-Hawaii (2013). She then wrapped up her career at Salt Lake CC (2013-14). Lainhart was a prep star at Silverado High School in Las Vegas, Nev., where she was named 4A First-Team All-State and was also an all-region selection her senior year. She finished her career as the 13th-leading scorer in Nevada history at the 4A level with 1,266 career points and averaged 16.6 points and 13.7 rebounds in her senior campaign. That senior season also saw her record a staggering 16 double-doubles in 20 games.

Men's Basketball Assistant Coach
Raphael Chillious is in his first year with the Utah men’s basketball team after joining Alex Jensen’s staff in March of 2025. A veteran in the collegiate circles known as a top-level developmental coach and recruiter, he coached 17 players to NBA rosters, 10 NBA first-round draft picks, 4 NBA lottery picks and a No. 1-overall draft selection. Additionally, he also coached two players that were drafted straight out of high school. Chillious comes to Salt Lake City from the Memphis Grizzlies – where he started as a personnel evaluator in 2024-25. Prior to joining the Grizzlies, Chillious spent four years (2020-24) at South Kent School – his second stint at the South Kent, Conn., boarding school. He returned to the Cardinals in a dual role as the associate athletics director and head coach for two seasons before taking over as the director of athletics in 2022. He went on to lead South Kent School to the 2023 NEPSAC Class AAA championship. Before returning to South Kent School, Chillious spent two seasons (2018-20) with the Pirates of East Carolina as an associate head coach. He accomplished a lot his first season in Greenville, helping ECU rookie forward Jayden Gardner earn AAC All-Freshman Team honors. Gardner was unanimously selected to the all-freshman team after averaging 16.3 points and 8.5 rebounds during the regular-season his rookie year. Men's Basketball Assistant Director of Player Personnel
Rico Sylvester is in his first season with the Runnin’ Utes after joining Alex Jensen’s staff in April of 2025. Sylvester comes to the Salt Lake City after spending the 2024-25 season with the Sacramento Kings in the basketball operations office. While there, he served as the scouting contact for the organization and coordinated logistics for every scout. In addition, Sylvester was in charge of conducting pre-draft dossiers on all potential draft prospects for the front office among his other day-to-day duties. He began journey in basketball as an undergrad, serving as a practice player on Cuonzo Martin’s team from 2019-21. While with the Tigers, Sylvester helped the coaching staff with practice set-up/breakdown and assisted with drills. He also got hands-on experience with individual workouts. After graduation, Sylvester joined the Louisiana Tech men’s basketball staff as a graduate assistant for the 2021-22 campaign before following head coach Eric Konkol to Tulsa for two seasons (2022-24). As a GA, he was integral in assisting the staff with opponent scouting, player development, scheduling and several other operational duties. Victoria Sun begins her first season with the Runnin’ Utes in 2025-26 after joining Alex Jensen’ staff as the director of basketball operations. Sun comes to Salt Lake City after spending the past six years (2019-25) as the business manager for the basketball arm at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. A Hong Kong native that grew up in Southern California, Sun made the move to the sports operation world in 2011 at Eastern Michigan. She would spend three seasons (2011-14) with the Eagles before taking the special assistant to the head coach role at Florida State for a season (2014-15) and then moved on to CSUN (2015-16). Sun spent two seasons (2016-18) at George Washington as the director of operations before joining IMG Academy in 2019. She was also charged by the NCAA to lead the inaugural NCAA College Basketball Academy in 2019. An award-winning sports writer by trade out of college (1997-2011) and longstanding member of the US Basketball Writers Association, Sun’s work has appeared in publications such as the Associated Press, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, Riverside Press-Enterprise, Cincinnati Post and Las Vegas Sun. She was also a contributor to Lindy’s preseason college basketball magazine and the Basketball Times. Sun is a 1997 graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
