Head Coach
Aquiles Montoya opens his second season as head coach of the CSUN Women's Volleyball team in 2025. In his first season, Montoya led the Matadors to a 10-19 overall record, as CSUN reached double figures in wins for the first time since 2019. With five Big West wins, Montoya led CSUN to its highest conference win total in three seasons. Montoya became the ninth coach to lead the Matadors when he was named head coach in April 2024. Montoya earned his first head coaching win when the Matadors knocked off San Diego State in five sets in Pocatello, Idaho, on Aug. 31, 2024. He picked up his first Big West win when CSUN defeated Cal State Fullerton at Titan Gym on Oct. 5, 2024. Libero Paige Sentes led the Matadors with 468 digs during the 2024 season, the sixth-best total for a single season in program history. Setter Katie Kolar also ranked among the NCAA leaders in total assists during the 2024 campaign. Montoya came to CSUN in 2024 after spending the previous four seasons as associate head coach and director of recruiting at Portland State. Montoya was instrumental in three straight Vikings' student-athletes earning the Big Sky Conference's Top Newcomer award. On the court, Portland State made consecutive postseason appearances in 2021 and 2022, qualifying for the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC). Assistant Coach/Technical Coordinator
Bryan Bran joined the CSUN women's volleyball program as an assistant coach and technical coordinator prior to the 2024 season. Bran, who also serves as technical coordinator for the CSUN Men's Volleyball program, has spent numerous years working in the collegiate game. He spent two seasons (2022-23) as an assistant coach at Pasadena City College and also worked as a volunteer assistant coach at UC Davis in 2021-22. He also spent the 2019 and 2020 seasons as a student manager for the women's team at Saint Mary's College in Moraga. He also currently serves as technical coordinator for the San Diego Mojo of the Pro Volleyball Federation. Bran played varsity volleyball at Van Nuys High School before moving on to LA Pierce College in Woodland Hills. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree in education from Saint Mary's College in 2020.

Assistant Coach
Greg Faulkner completed his first season as an assistant coach with the CSUN women's volleyball program in 2024. In his first season with the women's program, the Matadors won 10 matches, CSUN's highest total since winning 12 times in 2019. Before joining the CSUN Women's Volleyball staff, Faulkner spent six seasons as a member of the CSUN Men's Volleyball coaching staff from 2019-24. Faulkner was an assistant coach under Jeff Campbell from 2019-22 and has worked under Theo Edwards in his final two seasons (2023-24). A four-year letterwinner and an All-MPSF middle blocker for the Matadors from 2011-2015, Faulkner ranks 10th in school history with 304 total blocks. He was named to the MPSF All-Freshman Team in 2011 before earning honorable mention accolades following his junior and senior seasons. Following his collegiate career, Faulkner played professional volleyball for Volei Club Banatal in Caransebes, Romania in 2015-16 and for Club Regatas in Lima, Peru from 2016-17. He was named Best Middle Blocker of the LNSV League helping Club Regatas to a second-place league finish. He began his coaching career as the head coach of the Girls JV squad at Palos Verdes High School in 2017. He was also the head coach and assistant for the Palos Verdes Boys' squad which went to win the 2017 Bay League title.
