High Point University Women's Soccer

Aaron McGuiness was announced as the fifth HPU women's soccer head coach on July 8th of 2022. A Big South Championship returned to High Point in year four, marking the first title for Head Coach Aaron McGuiness. McGuiness came to HPU after spending five seasons as an assistant at Virginia Commonwealth University. With McGuiness the Rams have posted a 45-18-5 overall record, he as also coached 17 A-10 all conference players during his tenure at VCU. McGuiness has head coaching experience; he spent four seasons as the head coach of the Thiel College women's soccer team. He knows what it is like to be a student-athlete, he was a four-year starter and a two-year captain at Shenandoah. He also played professionally, he was a member of the Palm Beach Soccer Club in the Brisbane Premier League from 2001-2005. McGuiness is originally from Tweed Heads, Australia.

High Point University Women's Soccer Head Coach Aaron McGuiness announced the hiring of Christina Wakefield as an assistant coach in March 2025. Wakefield will work with field players and assist with recruiting. Before High Point, Wakefield was an assistant coach at Auburn University during the 2024 season. She was tasked with leading Auburn's forward line as the attacking players accounted for 26 of the Tigers' 54 goals over the course of the season. Wakefield joined the Tigers after spending two seasons at Stephen F. Austin University, where she focused on the squad's attacking players. Prior to working with the Ladyjacks, she served as a graduate assistant coach at Auburn during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. After graduating from Boston University in 2018, Wakefield began her coaching journey at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania. During her playing career as a Terrier, Wakefield bagged 10 goals, five of which came as game-winners, and assisted on seven others over 73 appearances.

High Point University Women's Soccer Head Coach Aaron McGuiness announced the hiring of Emily McGrath as an assistant coach in February 2024. McGrath will be the goalkeeping coach. A Big South Championship returned to High Point in her second year on staff, marking the first title for McGrath at HPU. McGrath comes from Tiffin University, a Division II intuition, where she served as an assistant coach since June 2022. She was the main recruiting coordinator, helped organize travel plans, and was the point of contact for all away teams. McGrath played collegiate soccer at the University of Toledo (2017-18) before transferring to IUPUI (2018-21) and graduating with her bachelor's degree in exercise science with a minor in coaching. A native of Noblesville, Ind., McGrath now resides in High Point, N.C.
