Biography

Stanley Redwine is in his 25th season at the helm of the Kansas track & field and cross country programs during the 2024-25 seasons, making Redwine the longest tenured head coach in the program’s history. Already a member of the Kansas Athletics Hall of Fame, Redwine is one of the most well-respected coaches in the United States. A former All-American himself at the University of Arkansas, Redwine is a five-time Big 12 Coach of the Year, and has coached 20 individual NCAA champions, 260 All-Americans and 21 Olympians while at KU, as well as 23 national championship teams between his years as head coach at Kansas and Tulsa and an assistant coach at Arkansas. Redwine was the head coach of Team USA Men's Track and Field at the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he led the country's squad to their most successful Olympics yet. While coaching for Team USA, Redwine also reunited with seven current/former Kansas Track and Field Athletes, including Saint Lucian Michael Joseph, who became the 2023 Indoor 400m Big 12 Champion under Coach Redwine. Joseph was named Saint Lucia's flag bearer, and got to be alongside his college coach in his first-ever Olympics. Prior to Paris, Redwine served as an assistant coach for Team USA at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games and also served as the men’s head coach for Team USA at the IAAF World Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon in 2022, the first World Championships held on U.S. soil. Redwine’s national championship came for the Jayhawk women’s outdoor team
