Head coach Tim Flynn, the owner of 285 career victories, enters his ninth season after joining WVU in 2018. Under his guidance, West Virginia has seen 35 Mountaineers qualify for the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships and eight earn All-America status. WVU has also enjoyed great success off the mat, earning 29 NWCA Scholar All-America honors. West Virginia enjoyed incredible success during the 2025-26 season, winning 11 duals and sending six Mountaineers to the NCAA Wrestling Championships in Cleveland. West Virginia finished the year with 10 or more dual wins for the fourth consecutive season, marking the first time since 1985-88, and just the second time in program history. WVU’s 11 dual wins are the team’s most since 2014, and West Virginia beat five Big 12 foes for the first time since joining the conference. The highlight of the season came against No. 17 Northern Iowa. The Mountaineers defeated the Panthers, 23-13, for their highest-ranked win under Flynn and the third ranked win of the season. Kyle Bratke enters his fifth season with the West Virginia wrestling program after being named the director of wrestling operations in June 2021. Bratke's roles with the wrestling program include overseeing the day-to-day operations of the office, scheduling and organizing events, assisting with social media, communicating with fans, alumni and boosters and working hand in hand with the WVU Athletics staff. Before WVU, Bratke spent the previous seven years working for sports media company, FloSports. During his time at FloSports, Bratke worked specifically with FloWrestling and FloFootball, where he managed social media accounts, created content for the web and social media and appeared on shows. A native of Parkersburg, West Virginia, Bratke earned his bachelor's degree in journalism from Ohio University in 2014. He earned his master's degree in Sports Management from the University of Florida in 2020.

Volunteer Assistant
A native of Buffalo, New York, Muhamed McBryde enters his sixth season as the volunteer assistant for the Mountaineer wrestling program. McBryde won the United States U23 World Team Trials, earning the right to represent the U.S. at the U23 World Championships in Budapest, Hungary in 2017. He made the most of the opportunity by earning a spot in the bronze medal bout, before ultimately finishing in fifth place. He continues to compete domestically and internationally while coaching the Mountaineers. In 2026, six Mountaineers placed at the Big 12 Wrestling Championships, six Mountaineers wrestled at the NCAA Championships and one became an NCAA All-American. Marketing
Noah Smith joined the WVU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics in 2016 and has been serving his current role as Assistant Athletics Director, Marketing since August 2023. He leads the WVU Athletics Marketing office in day-to-day operations and serves as the direct sports marketing contact for football and men's basketball and is the department's liaison to the Mountaineer Maniacs, among other responsibilities. In his current role as Assistant Athletics Director, Smith oversees WVU's paid and trade advertising efforts for the athletic programs and works closely with Learfield in the implementation of sponsorship elements and spearheads the budget process for the Marketing office. During his tenure at WVU, Smith helped to create and program the Almost Heaven Village, Gold-Blue Spring Festival, and Ballin' at Woodburn, basketball preseason event. Smith's work was recognized in 2025 by The National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) as the Gold winner in the category of "Game Day Promotion" for "Coal Rush - WVU Football" initiative. Additionally, in 2025, his work helped the Mountaineers secure a Bronze NACMA award for its Year-Over-Year Revenue Increase as well as a Bronze Award in the Lead Generation Campaign category. Strength & Conditioning Coach
Tanner Kolb joined the Mountaineer athletic staff in August 2012, and was named Assistant Director of Strength and Conditioning in December 2017. Kolb handles the strength and conditioning responsibilities for rifle, men's soccer and wrestling. In May of 2021, Kolb was named a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach (MSCC) by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCa). The honor is the highest given in the strength and conditioning coaching profession. He arrived at West Virginia in 2012 after a one-year stint at East Carolina as an assistant strength and conditioning coach, where he designed and implemented specific programs for baseball, volleyball and tennis, as well as assisting with football. Prior to his tenure at East Carolina, Kolb spent three years as the head strength coach and adjunct professor at Waynesburg. While at Waynesburg, Kolb worked to design and implement programs in all sports, as well as teaching four classes. A native of Pittsburgh, Kolb turned in two stints as a prep strength and conditioning coach at Perry High (Okla.) in the summer of 2004, as well as Petoskey High (Mich.) and Charlevoix High (Mich.) from 2006-08. There, he contributed time at Northern Michigan Sports Medicine while lecturing and directing powerlifting and strongman competitions. Zach Eckert has served in the WVU Athletic Department since 2009, including roles as Assistant Director of Facilities and Operations (2009-14) and Associate Director of Facilities/Operations (2014-16).
